Senior Activity Calendar 2015-2016


  • Make sure you are in the correct classes to meet graduation requirements.  Make final changes to senior year schedule
  • Scholarship programs.  Check the Watsonville High website for updated scholarship info. 
  • Narrow your college choices down.  Three to six selections are sufficient in most cases. 
  • Make copies of all forms you mail.  Ask for a certificate of mailing at the post office.
  • Begin to write a personal statement for UC and/or private colleges.  See your English teacher, counselor or EAOP for assistance.
  • See Leandra in the Guidance Office or Amanda in the Career Center to see if you qualify for ACT/SAT fee waivers
  • UC ( and private university ( applications are now open.  Start your application today. 
  • If you are applying to a UC school or private university you might also need to register and take the SAT Subject test  
  • August 26th Review your transcript during our classroom presentation, sign up for credit recovery classes if necessary
  • Questbridge Scholarship program presentation August 26th at 1:15pm
  • Senior Parent Meeting September 3rd, 6:00 pm Mello Center.
  • September 12 ACT exam day.
  • Register for the SAT by September 3rd for the October 3rd test.  Please review requirements for SAT Subject exams & plan to register if needed
  • Register for the SAT by October 9th for the November 7th test.
  • Register for the ACT with writing by September 18th for the October 24th test
  • Mid-year graduates meet with your counselor to request petition
  • First Saturday School of the year is September 12th
  • Private application workshop September 23rd at 1:15pm in the Career Center


  • Applications for the California State Universities will be available online  
  • Application period for all CSU’s is October 1st – November 30th.
  • Check the WHS Senior website for college representative visits.
  • SAT Reasoning/SAT Subject test October 3rd
  • CSU Monterey Bay Open House is Saturday, October 10th  
  • CAHSEE- October 6th and 7th    
  • ACT October 24th
  • If you are considering college sports, you must establish your eligibility through the NCAA Clearinghouse.  Register online at
  • Make all requests for letters of recommendation at least two weeks before the deadline. 
  • College application help available during Advisory and after school in the career center.
  • College application workshop on Saturday, October 17th


  • November 1st through 30th is the application filing period for all UC and CSU campuses.  See websites to apply.
  • College Awareness Month!  Where did your favorite teacher go to college?
  • CAHSEE-November 3rd and 4th  
  • Mid-year graduate petitions for early graduation due November 6th.  See your counselor for details.
  • Watsonville High College Night-November 5th included participating in a mock admissions
  • Cabrillo-College and Career Night will be held in the Cabrillo College gym on Nov. 2nd from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Representatives of many public and private colleges, as well as technical and vocational schools, will be present. Important financial aid information sessions will be presented as well.
  • Register for the SAT by November 5th for the December 5th test.
  • Register for the ACT by November 6th for the December 12th test.
  • November 18th- Financial Aid presentations in 12th grade classrooms
  • November 18th - Financial Aid Night 6:00pm in the WHS Library and Mello Center
  • College application workshop on Saturday, November 14th.
  • College application workshop on Wednesday, November 25th


  • December 12th 1:15pm Gates Millennium Scholarship Workshop
  • December is the last recommended month to take ACT, SAT Reasoning/SAT Subject.
  • Check with your counselor to be sure you are on track for graduation in June.


  • The FAFSA or CA Dream Act can be filed online AFTER January 1st.  Deadline is Mar. 2nd for California Grants.  Don’t forget your GPA Verification Form (Turn in Social Security number to Ana Duque-school registrar)
  • January 27th - Cash For College Financial Aid Workshop 1:15-3:00pm
  • The deadline for filing the CSS/financial Aid PROFILE varies.  Contact colleges for this deadline.
  • If you still need to make up graduation requirements, see your counselor to sign up for Adult Ed., E2020, Cabrillo College or Independent Study.
  • Deadline for your 40 hours of Community Service graduation requirement is January 29th.   


  • Highlight to the Future Conference February 7th, includes a Cash for College Workshop
  • February 11th  Cash For College Financial Aid Workshop 5:00 – 7:00pm
  • Review and update Student Aid Report (SAR) which is the response to the FAFSA or CA Dream Act. 
  • Complete Community College applications  
  • Cabrillo College Assessment- Dates to be announced
  • If you are attending a CSU, register to take the college entrance assessments ELM/EPT
  • Submit Intent to Register Applications to Cabrillo College
  • CA Strawberry Commission Scholarship workshop February 17th-1:15pm


  • March 2nd is the deadline to submit your FAFSA or CA Dream Act
  • Applications for the WHS Local Scholarship Program are available March 1st in the Guidance Office.
  • Local Scholarship Applications due March 31st.
  • Take Cabrillo College assessment- Dates to be announced.
  • Cabrillo College Info Night 
  • Cabrillo Honors Program applications are due this month


  • Return student intent to register forms to the UC and CSU campuses before the May 1 deadline.
  • Take Cabrillo College assessment- Date to be announced.
  • Compare your financial aid packages from the schools you applied to. 


  • Take Cabrillo College Assessment - Dates to be announced
  • AP Exams
  • Principal Awards Night May 12th.
  • Last Saturday School for Seniors is May 14th
  • Scholarship Night May 17th.
  • Last week in May will be Senior Finals
  • Running Start Early Registration for Cabrillo College.  Details to follow.
  • Request a final transcript to be sent to your university from the Registrar.
